چکیده

The oldest archosauromorphs (dinosaurs, birds, crocodiles, and their stem-taxa) are recorded in middle?upper Permian rocks, but it was not after the Permo?Triassic mass extinction that group shows a substantially high taxonomic richness ecomorphological disparity. early evolutionary history of Archosauromorpha during Early Middle Triassic is mainly based on fossils recovered from rocks southern Africa, Europe Asia, whereas South America possesses more complete fossil record only Late Triassic. Here we revisit, discuss, reanalyse non-archosaurian archosauromorph current-day America. this continent still scarce, documents evolution western Pangaea crucial to understand globally biotic recovery extinction. extremely assemblage among most diverse abundant worldwide. last decade has witnessed considerable improvement our knowledge record, taxonomy, phylogeny, macroevolution with input American fossils. Nevertheless, amount research needed ideally should be focused some particular aspects radiation Archosauromorpha. Among them, expanded, numerous specimens have picture group, taxonomy groups like proterochampsids hyperodapedontine rhynchosaurs clarified through detailed anatomical work.

Phylogeographical patterns shed light on evolutionary process in South America.

The South American continent is composed of several biogeographical regions harbouring the highest biodiversity on the globe, encompassing five of the world's biodiversity 'hot spots'. Nonetheless, the patterns and processes responsible for shaping its astonishing species diversity are largely unknown. Here, we present a review of current South American phylogeographical knowledge based on publ...

Evolutionary history of partible paternity in lowland South America.

Partible paternity, the conception belief that more than one man can contribute to the formation of a fetus, is common in lowland South America and characterized by nonexclusive mating relationships and various institutionalized forms of recognition and investment by multiple cofathers. Previous work has emphasized the fitness benefits for women where partible paternity beliefs facilitate pater...

The Use of Bioinformatics for Studying HIV Evolutionary and Epidemiological History in South America

The South American human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) epidemic is driven by several subtypes (B, C, and F1) and circulating and unique recombinant forms derived from those subtypes. Those variants are heterogeneously distributed around the continent in a country-specific manner. Despite some inconsistencies mainly derived from sampling biases and analytical constrains, most of studies ...

Heart Failure in South America

Continued assessment of temporal trends in mortality and epidemiology of specific heart failure in South America is needed to provide a scientific basis for rational allocation of the limited health care resources, and strategies to reduce risk and predict the future burden of heart failure. The epidemiology of heart failure in South America was reviewed. Heart failure is the main cause of hosp...

Malaria control in South America.

To the Editor: The article by Roberts et al. regarding DDT use and malaria in South America (1) correctly observes that health policy makers have shifted the emphasis of malaria control programs from vector control to case detection and treatment and that malaria control has been woefully underfunded in recent years. However, their conclusions that increased malaria is due to decreased spraying...
